To the Hon Anika Wells MP, Minister for Communications,

We call on you to:

- Withdraw the Online Safety Amendment (Digital Duty of Care) Bill 2026.

- Remove the Minister's power to declare new categories of banned content without a vote in Parliament.

- Guarantee that no Australian's lawful speech can be removed without an accountable decision and a right of appeal.

The Australian Government is giving itself the power to censor the internet.

Look at the actual words in the Bill. The Communications Minister can ban "any other material or conduct" she "is satisfied may cause serious harm."

One minister. One opinion. No vote in Parliament, no appeal, no court.

In practice that could be anything. Criticism of a foreign government. Protest footage. Reporting on a war. Australians arguing about Palestine.

Australians should decide what they see online. Not the government.

When your post vanishes, nobody has to answer for it. There is no appeal, no reasons given, no one to challenge. Censorship with nobody's name on it.

There is not one protection in this Bill for journalism, protest, satire or political debate. Everything you say online is on the table. This Bill dangerously targets ideas.

If passed, it will suppress open expression and arm future governments with the power to censor dissent.

Sign the petition. Stop this Bill before it decides what you are allowed to say.
